Device Theory (Staff/Senior Physics/EE)
About the role
We are looking for a Staff or Senior Device Theory engineer/scientist to develop models and theoretical frameworks that guide our hardware roadmap. This role connects first-principles understanding with practical device and system design across quantum, photonic, and electronic platforms.
What you’ll do
- Develop analytical and computational models for device behavior, performance limits, and scaling pathways
- Guide architecture and hardware decisions through physics-based insight and predictive modeling
- Collaborate closely with experimentalists, circuit designers, and systems engineers
- Translate theoretical ideas into actionable design rules and measurable engineering targets
What we’re looking for
- Deep expertise in device physics, electromagnetics, quantum systems, or related areas
- Strong ability to connect theory with experimental hardware platforms and engineering constraints
- Experience with simulation, modeling, and interpretation of real-world device data
- Advanced degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field preferred
Location: Camperdown, Sydney, Australia however we are also open to applicants residing in, or willing to move to, Australia and the US.
