Who we are
Emergence Quantum are a team of Ph.D level scientists and engineers with backgrounds spanning big tech companies, government contractors, SMEs, and academia. While our leadership has been active in quantum computing for more than 25 years, other team members bring a depth of experience working in semiconductor foundries, the leading HPC companies, and top academic research institutions.
Most importantly, we are a stable, cohesive unit that has worked together for years, building on a foundation of deep mutual trust and complementary skills.
Leadership

David Reilly holds a Ph.D in quantum device physics and for the last 8 years led Microsoft’s quantum efforts in Australia, pioneering approaches to controlling and reading-out quantum computers at scale. His work on cryogenic electronics has helped establish new paradigms for scaling quantum and energy-efficient computers. David is jointly a Professor in Physics at the University of Sydney and has held positions at Harvard University and the University of New South Wales.

Tom Ohki is a Ph.D physicist and quantum hardware engineer with deep expertise in quantum systems and control architectures from his work leading research teams at Microsoft Quantum and Raytheon / BBN Technologies. His background spans quantum computing, superconducting systems, and complex electronics.

The Emergence Quantum team combines expertise from some of the world's leading technology organisations and research institutions. We have significant experience in electronics development, integrated circuit design, cryogenics, semiconductor and superconducting device physics, thermal management, packaging, advanced computing, and quantum technologies. We are systems architects with deep experience in engineering management principles.
