Electromagnetic and Circuit Simulation
About the role:
Quantum control is at a point where we need a detailed understanding of all aspects of a measurement. To this end, we are looking to expand our electromagnetic simulation efforts across a range of low-temperature devices and their associated packaging. The role will use finite-element and lumped-element methods to investigate microwave and rf-regime fields across devices like amplifiers, superconducting devices, qubit chips, and their associated packaging.
What you'll do:
- Run electromagnetic simulations on a wide range of devices using finite-element tools like ANSYS, Comsol; and lumped-element simulation using nodal analysis
- Design microwave and rf devices such as resonators and diplexers
- Work with a team to design complete experiments, including managing chip-level crosstalk, packaging, microwave hygiene, signal integrity, etc
- Undertake basic measurements and device characterisation
What we're looking for:
- Expertise simulating electromagnetic environments using FEA software packages
- Experience with design and analysis in the microwave and rf regime
- Degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field
- We work on a range of programs, so some adjacent experience - examples might be low-temperature measurement, quantum physics, CAD, thermal modelling, etc
