Senior Thermal and Mechanical Engineer
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Thermal and Mechanical Engineer to develop the thermal architecture and mechanical systems that enable our quantum platforms to operate reliably in cryogenic and rugged environments. You will play a central role in packaging, cooling, structural design, and hardware integration across complex systems.
What you’ll do
- Design thermal and mechanical solutions for cryogenic, vacuum, and high-performance hardware systems
- Perform thermal modeling, structural analysis, and mechanical tolerance definition for critical assemblies
- Partner with systems, packaging, fabrication, and infrastructure teams to optimize performance and manufacturability
- Support development of cooling systems, enclosures, support structures, and hardware interfaces
What we’re looking for
- Deep expertise in thermal management and mechanical design for cryogenic or rugged environments
- Experience with CAD, FEA, thermal simulation, and precision electromechanical integration
- Knowledge of materials behavior at low temperatures and in vacuum environments
- Experience with industrial-scale cooling or liquefaction systems is a plus
Location: Camperdown, Sydney, Australia however we are also open to applicants residing in, or willing to move to, Australia and the US.
